I finally drove a tank :)
« on: June 16, 2017, 02:20:58 PM »
Here's the video. It was a T-55. Loud, dusty, smoking... and great fun. Although I wish I could have drive a bit faster. Next time  8) The place has many more vehicles including and M4A3  and Leopard 1A5 in running condition. They are also restoring a Tiger. It should also be in running condition in about 2 years.

This is great Lusik.

Imagine that in battle  :eek The noise, heat/cold, vibration, cramped conditions.

Thank you for posting this. Make sure to grab more video when you go back  :roker

What was quickly apparent when I wanted to shift a gear that quick repositioning in a battle is not that easy in the tank. Shifting into reverse gear required A LOT of force. It was very loud for my friends who sat up on the turret but quit bearable for me in the front.

Overall driving was easy. Handles were rather light to operate unlike the gear lever.

That is interesting and good to know. - I think there was talk about that in the past. That steelbeast doesn't quite match reality in the way that there is a major delay in tanks movements of what ever it is to do. So... I guess that is true then

Shifting into reverse gear required A LOT of force.

They didn't want the tanks to retreat  :Hammer
