Tacview 1.6.0 official thread
« on: April 06, 2017, 02:07:29 PM »

Tacview 1.6.0 is now available to everyone!

Download: HERE

The long awaited real-time telemetry is here! Use it with DCS World, FSX, Prepar3D, or X-Plane to record and review in real-time a flight in progress. An first draft of the instructor remote control is also available. This tool enables you to control up to four simulators, to assist trainee pilots and reduce their workload.

To prevent cheating, real-time telemetry may be disabled during network sessions depending on the host preferences.

These two new features go naturally well together: Use the real-time telemetry to watch in real time your trainee from outside and inside the cockpit. Help him/her using the remote control to pause its flight simulator and actuate some of its aircraft controls. In the next update, you will be able to directly bind joystick and keyboard to remote control commands.

All Tacview network features are independent and can be combined the way you want. For example, you can combine the real-time telemetry and the online-debriefing to review, with your fellow squadrons leaders, in real-time, a network battle in progress like a red-flag training.

In addition, many updates and fixes are introduced in this version to better enjoy flight review for all your favorite simulators.

While several surprises are on their way for this year, the next major step will be Tacview 2.0. This new version will offer a fully revamped UI, and a will include most of the improvements which have been requested over the years.

Meanwhile several updates are still planned for Tacview 1.6 and maybe 1.7, to offer a smooth transition while waiting for 2.0. For example, you will soon get an integrated static objects editor to easily add navaids to a battlefield and will be able to display analog cockpit instruments to get more intuitive and faster reading while analysing the quality of a flight.

It looks like the port is now configurable globally in the application rather than per instance like I was asking in the beta 1 thread.

If you're running two instances (say release and alpha) on the same server there's no way to set the port per instance. Rather than having this configured in the application can it be moved to the Tacview Plugin in on the Special tab in the DCS settings where it would make more sense?

In Tacview 1.6.1 you will have the possibility to choose the real-time telemetry and remote control ports. You will also be able to define a password to authorize some people to record real-time telemetry despite an active anti-cheat delay.

I did not have the time yet to add theses option because of DCS World menus limitations.

Hey Vyrtuoz.

I'm a member of a falcon BMS flying community using Tacview for our event's debreifing but for some reasons since 1.6.0 we're experiencing troubles to connect to an online debriefing.
We used a lot this functions in the past with the previous versions of tacview and without any problems.
42673 port is forwarded for the host. We did try several hosts but no luck.

Can you have a look at that function please ?

In Tacview 1.6, I have introduced a new network protocol which was necessary for the real-time telemetry.

This means that Tacview 1.6 online debriefing is not compatible with Tacview 1.5.4 online debriefing. It should work fine if all the participants are running Tacview 1.6.

Could that be the source of your issue?

If not, can you share me some screenshot of the error message displayed by Tacview?

Nope we also have the problem even when everybody is using 1.6.0
For this reason we reversed back at 1.5.4 for the moment.

From what I remember there is no error message we're just not able to connect.
will try again ASAP

Indeed, it looks like the online debriefing is not working as expected. I am going to investigate and publish a fix as soon as possible. Sorry for the inconvenience.

I'm just hoping it's not a big deal and that you will be able to fix it without too much pain  :thumbsup

Hi - sorry not sure if I should just ask here or start a thread. I am new to Tacview and just purchased it for use with DCS which I am just getting back into with 2.0 and Nevada, awesome software and very useful for analysing your engagements!
I was just woindering if there was any specific reason IAS is not displayed for the enemy aircraft? I have it selected for the tab and it shows for my A/C but nothing for the enemy. I have to enable TAS as well for both and calculate from there.

DCS World exports the IAS only for the local (player) aircraft. AI aircraft do not expose this information.

Maybe the estimated CAS in Tacview, will bring you closer to the IAS for your computations.
