Major patch released
23 February - jan_1C

Patch v1.3.3 has been released - save game bug and army disappearance bug have been fixed along with many others. New features has been added. More details below:

General:
•   We are aware of the economical ‘problems’ in the second part of the game. Players will reach a point where they have so much money, they don’t even know what to spent it on. Projects’ maintenance costs should constantly scale to the economical level of the country which should work as an inflation element. Currently, there is a serious bug that is preventing this scaling from taking place. It will be fixed in the next patch.
•   Various windows should now be more transparent and less confusing.
•   Shortcuts are now in the game:
•   F1 – Menu
•   F6 – Autosave
•   1, 2, 3 – time control
•   Space – pause
•   Num+, Num- - zoom in, zoom out
•   Arrow keys/WSAD – moving around the map

Bug fixes:
•   Fixed an issue with huge save files loading times
•   Fixed an issue with random disappearing of units after war
•   Fixed various issues with resources
•   Forming Scandinavia will now properly include player’s country in the new nation
•   Changing political system during wars will now effectively change requirements for nuclear attacks
•   Implementing unique projects won’t block deactivation of the other projects anymore
•   Fixed various typos, wrong strings and minor bugs

Balance:
•   Going bankrupt will now set money and AP to 0
•   AI should now be more effective during wars
•   Costs and effects of some diplomatic and spy actions has been revisited
•   United Nation’s coalitions should now attack more often and with more units
•   High Warmonger will now more drastically decrease relations with the rest of the world
•   Environmental damage will now decrease slower
•   Block members should now be less likely to leave player’s block, when the notification about leaving possibility is active

Important info regarding existing savegames: If you have already noticed that your game takes a long time to load a savegame, this patch won't fix it. We recommend starting a new game as the fix works only for newly created saves.

In case of trouble, you can roll back to the previous build, by right-clicking the game in the library, going into properties -> betas and entering beta password february21build. Then enable the feb21build beta branch and restart Steam.

Weekend Beta Patch with 'Separatism' incoming!
9 MARCH

We're planning to launch a beta patch this Friday (10th March) to give you a chance to test the changes before the update goes live. It brings a new gameplay mechanic called Separatism + several bugfixes and changes aimed to improve game balance.

WARNING: This update is not compatible with older savegames

HOW TO JOIN THE BETATEST: Check the forums tomorrow, we will publish a short guide how to activate the beta branch

Changes:
- Added Separatism mechanics
- Fixed Action Points costs reported by users in the forums
- Minor fixes

Separatism
Separatism is a new gameplay mechanic that will be introduced with the latest update to the game. Its goal is to balance the difficulty for large countries in later stages of the game.

As you conquer more and more territories, various cultural differences will start causing civil unrest and you will need to spend more resources in order to keep your country stable. Separatism has several levels and each level brings more trouble. The update comes with a new in-game menu, new actions and cooldowns to manage the crisis.

This is a brand new gameplay mechanic and we're looking forward to your feedback, should you decide to take part in the beta weekend.

Patch 1.3.6 Now Live - New Features Added
Community Announcements

We have just updated Realpolitiks to version 1.3.6 and introduced a new important game element along with several bug fixes and balacing tweaks.

We would also like to thank everybody who took part in the weekend betatest and shared their comment in the forums! Based on the feedback, we have tweaked several things.

Please note that old savegames are not compatible with the new build. If you want to finish the campaign, you can roll back to the previous build by selecting 134build in the Betas tab (Right click the game in Steam library and navigate to Betas tab).

Here's a full changelog:

- Added Separatism mechanics
- Fixed Action Points costs reported by users in the forums
- Minor fixes

How Action Points (AP) work in 1.3.6

For some projects, the implementation and maintenance costs are connected to country population size / GDP / number of provinces. Detailed information is provided in tooltip while selecting maintenance cost in Projects window.

For example: project 'Universal Health Service' maintenance costs are linked to population. For a very populous countries maintaining such service can be relatively AP expensive.

Also, when your country provinces have a very high GDP values, you do not need so many projects providing GDP growth.

Please take into consideration that some advanced projects may be working good with small/medium countries only. Therefore, as your GDP and Population grow high enough, you may think about deactivating advanced projects to save some AP/money for actions like spying/blocks/United Nations. (simple projects from the beginning of projects 'chain' should be now affordable)

A good idea is to check projects maintenance costs in Statistics window and manage projects by activating/deactivating them.
It is worth to notice that Action Points increase is mainly connected with population size and number of high score rated provinces. However, having a very high population size, Projects maintenance costs based on population can be higher than AP income based on population.

San Escobar and more in a FREE content update!
Realpolitiks - jan_1C

We present our first free content update for our loyal fans!

The update adds brand-new tasks and challenges to the game, expanding the list of events originating in Europe. Playing as Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia or Austria, players will enjoy more political fiction and what-if scenarios based on actual political situations and historical facts.

Within the 2020 scenario, players can track the origin of San Escobar, the new Polish underwater colony in the Caribbean, and the worldwide diplomatic turmoil it creates. In other mini-scenarios, players will have to unite central European countries in order to create the Visegrad superpower and face the reborn Austrian Habsburg monarchy, or play for the Intermarium – a country competing with Russia for hegemony in Central and Eastern Europe.

Apart from new mini-scenarios, two new game features have been added: Culture conversion, and Renouncing territorial claims. The update also fixes known issues and fine-tunes Realpolitiks for a better, more optimized and enjoyable gameplay experience.

Changelog:
- Added Visegrad Group, Intermarium and San Escobar mini-scenarios and events
- Added Culture conversion feature
- Added Renounce territorial claims feature
- Various small tweaks and fixes

New Update Out + DLC announcment!
15 FEBRUARY   - 1C_DAN

Hi there,

we have got some good news for you guys! New DLC is almost here! Witness New Power!

Realpolitiks: “New Power” DLC injects fresh content and realism into the world of Realpolitiks. The “Korean Crisis” mini-scenario that features an actual nuclear threat, Non-Governmental Organizations that try to influence politics and new features for creating larger territorial units are highlights of this DLC.

The “Korean Crisis” mini-scenario points to one of the extensively discussed countries – North Korea. The North Korean nuclear threat becomes real in Realpolitiks: players can choose either side of the imminent conflict and have to deal with the explosive situation by either avoiding it, or adding more fuel to the fire. Playable nations include: the USA, China, North Korea and Japan.

An extra challenge is added through the presence of Non-Governmental organizations that exert additional pressure on today’s rulers and governments. Players have the options to work in secret with the mafia, support large corporations with subsidies and increased opportunities for business growth, maintain good relations with separatists and/or bring further harmony to their country through religion and more.

New diplomatic options in international politics include non-aggression pacts enabling peaceful coexistence with other nations, while political annexation offers another option for enlarging one’s territory without the use of military power. But still, everything comes at a price…

To make your wait for the DLC less painful we also released new free update that is ready for you right now!

The free update for Realpolitiks provides additional features and technology projects with a view to unlocking further possibilities within the player’s country. The ”Outsourcing” project tree will allow players to generate more action points, which they will find particularly handy in later stages of the game. Additionally, the “Advanced Arms Import” military project tree has been upgraded and will now offer the possibility to import transport units which should greatly improve player mobility even in the early stages of the game.

Two features have also been added to the free update. From now on, players can change a nation’s name and flag before the start of the game, and later rename their own country, blocs, and countries that they will liberate in order to further customize their territory to their liking. Players can also give away provinces to countries claiming them and thus increase good relations.

tl;dr here is the changelog:

'Outsourcing' project to exchange Money to Action Points.
Additional Transports for 'Advanced Arms imports' project tree.
Changing Bloc/Countries names.
Giving away provinces to countries having core on it.

So are you ready to take over the world?

New Power DLC is out now!
15 MARCH   - 1C_DAN

After a long wait we bring you the first DLC for Realpolitiks that expands your options as well as reflects some of the current events on the geopolitical scene and trends in contemporary political movements.

Revolving around the one country that all heads are turning towards regularly in recent news, Realpolitiks: New Power offers a unique opportunity to arrive at various possible outcomes of the potentially explosive situation on the Korean peninsula on the geopolitical and macroeconomic level and compare them to events taking place in real life. In the Korean Crisis mini-scenario, players can choose either side of the conflict, playing for the USA, China, North Korea or Japan.

Apart from this new mini-scenario, Realpolitiks: New Power also adds features that expand on the current scenarios, boosting the replay value of the base game with Non-Governmental Organizations that try to influence politics to their own ends, as well as new features for creating larger territorial units.

The NGOs present an extra challenge, as they exert additional pressure on world leaders and governments. Players also have the option to work in secret with the mafia, and maybe even support large corporations with favorable subsidies. They’ll also enjoy increased opportunities for business growth while maintaining good relations with separatists or bring further harmony to their country through various religious and cultural movements, and much more.

New diplomatic options in international politics include non-aggression pacts enabling peaceful coexistence with other nations, while political annexation offers another option for enlarging territory without the use of military power. Even so, everything comes at a price…

More about the new features of Realpolitiks: New Power can be seen in a gameplay trailer with developer’s commentary that will help players become quickly acquainted with them, and learn to make use of them right away:

So, what are you waiting for? Go and get it!
