Tacview-Pixhawk logs Compatibility
« on: November 18, 2016, 07:32:15 PM »
Hi,

my first post here and I`d like to thank in advance for this great program called Tacview, and say hello to the community here as well.

I found out about tacview, after I start learning to handle a few airplane models on DCS and after that P3D followed and now real life aerobatic flights.
Yes i was lucky enough to be able and fly acrobatics real life.

I do fly RC models FPV etc as well and i decided to try and record my flights using Pixhawk(on board real aircraft).A flight controller that mainly i know from the RC world and can record complete attitude (roll, pitch and yaw) and much more.
Using a program called Mission Planner then you can analyze and convert Tlog files to KLM-CSV  etc but did not work(those files) with Tacview.

Tacview it will be more greater than already is of course, if can support Pixhawk-APM logs.

Is it possible?

Thank you in advance.

Hi Acrobatics,

I wonder how RC flights replay will look like in Tacview :)

I will gladly add native support for tlog files in Tacview provided I have enough documentation and samples about this format.

Can you share me some of your tlog files and the corresponding kml/csv files?

The more data you can give me, the faster I will be able to understand the tlog file format.

Thank you both for the worm welcome!

I will happily provide some tlog files. If is ok i prefer to send in private mode for obvious reasons.  ;)

Your program once again is fantastic Vyrtuoz. Both me and my brother we have a paid licenses.

By the way tlog files will be a very nice touch to work with tacview, but bin files i think it will be more important.
You see, for tlog file to be created you need your flight controller (pixhawk, apm), to be connected to a pad or pc using Bluetooth, wifi, uhf tx-rx etc.

As an option by my opinion is not much convenient. To be able direct to download from your flight controller bin files is much more convenient and independent.
I know a bin file can be converted to KML or gpx using Mission planner.

It is your call of-course.I`m not a programmer but anything you need just let me know.

Thank you again.

Thank you for the data.

Yes, I do plan to support binary tlog files. Because it seems to be the official documented format on Internet.

tlog files should be supported in either Tacview 1.6 or 1.6.1 depending on my workload.
