Hi y'all

Whoa! A new updated version of Drive On Moscow!

Release Plans

Slitherine's Drive On Moscow: War In The Snow release plans is here. The October 2016 version is written in Unity. The forum link is an interesting read because this time Slitherine allowed gamers to download the original Shenandoah 2013 version of Drive On Moscow as many times they want (if they already own it). For owners of Shenandoah's original 2013 version of DoM, the Unity 2016 version is a separate download at a separate purchase of USD9.99.

For gamers new to DoM,there is only one Apple AppStore download which is the October 2016 Unity version. Slitherine removed the earlier version of DoM from the Apple AppStore. Slitherine will only be updating the October 2016 version from now onwards.

Some background to Drive On Moscow

Back in 2015, when Slitherine updated Shenandoah's Battle Of The Bulge, they faced a ton of flak from gamers because the then updated version broke the game. The update was at a huge cost of gamer discontentment with with the updated BOTB's AI, framerate, and Play-By-eMail multiplayer gameplay. And there was no way the gamer could revert to the earlier version of BOTB. The updated BOTB (Version 1.19 - July 2016) is, in the words of the gamer Redwing6891A, "a shadow of its former glory, but at least it is playable and compliments to the developers who keep on trying to fix the disastrous first port."

The GOOD NEWS for owners of the existing DoM is that Slitherine has learnt from its past experience. In the link I gave at the start of this post, Slitherine said on 14th October 2016: "There isn't currently any reason to buy the new version (of DoM) if you already have the old one and it works. The issue may be in the future if Apple updates the iOS and it no longer support the old version. We can't fix it and can only update the new Unity version. This is why for Bulge we replaced the app as we felt it better for everyone going forwards but you guys clearly told us you don't want that and we're listening!".

I am sure that there is a reason for owners of the original DoMNotes to own the new remastered edition. The October 2016 Unity version will be updated over time, improving in features and bug-squashing. The new version has Live PBEM support on Slitherine server's - live play against your human opponents! Slitherine will be organising online tournament system with prizes. They did a tournament recently with Battle Of The Bulge which was well-received. The update has a 'Brand new enhanced AI ...and they are now more challenging than ever'. Lastly, gamers can enjoy playing DoM on big screen monitors as it has been released on Steam for the Windows platform.

An entertaining live-stream of Drive On Moscow

Maybe after viewing the highly entertaining live-stream duel between two DoM connoisseurs/Youtube channel gamers, you would be persuaded to buy the game! Commissar Bro has close to 900 videos on his Youtube channel and Agrippa Maxentius, a big Graviteam Tactics fan, has close to 2,000 videos on his Youtube Channel. Both opponents are highly animated, humorous and enthusiastic, with the conversation alternating between American, German, British and Russian accents. Voice acting and lots of ranting and banter. Gaming at its best. By the way, they are playing the beta version on Windows and the monitor is in really high-resolution. You can tell by the size of the very small mouse pointer.

Drive on Moscow - Online battle Agrippa vs Commissar Bro!

The duel is not some random gameplay by gamers unfamiliar with the game. On the contrary, both gamers are highly skilled at the game, and give a highly instructive narration of the strategy and tactics that they employ throughout the duration of the live-stream. This is a high quality live stream session. Watch it and you will know what I mean. :-)

In the spirit of sharing.
Regards

Thanks Frankie and Asid!

I do have and play Battle of the Bulge, but I find it to short and it΄s always on the same map.  Still nice and easy to play.
