This applies to TeamSpeak and in-game voice chat.

Everyone who wants to interact over TeamSpeak or voice in game needs a decent microphone. Decent does not mean expensive. A $20/£15 headset will work great.

Using a headset mounted mic gives you the advantage of having a constant distance from the mic at all times.

The stand-alone mic can easily be affected by the user moving slightly. Also the stand-alone mic can be more susceptible to background noise. You can minimise this with use of filters etc or a vibration dampening stand.

Using the inbuilt laptop mic can be very problematic. We advise against it's use.

Many problems with microphones can be traced to poor setup, positioning and even internet speed.

We appreciate that problems can pop up while playing or something changes without warning. However some players keep using poor mic set-ups. They have been asked now for many months to address this. They have not.

From today, If you do not have a reasonable mic or are one of those people who have been asked to resolve your "issues" for many months but have not. Then you will be unable to take part in certain on-line activities which involve voice chat. This is starting immediately with Steel Beasts Pro Saturday DOW Sessions.

This is just common courtesy to your fellow gamers.

Am I included on the "bad mic" list? If so, that's fine.

Your mic is one of the ones which is less than ideal. You have a lot of background noise. It really needs addressed. A few members have commented that it can be difficult to hear you at times.

Well I'm definelty on it, depending on when my teamspeak decides to switch back to my old build in bezzel mic, or, just has been left open for 14 days and due to its netcode complealty screwed itself over.

Please, if I sound bad do remind me to restart teamspeak and if you hear the turbine sound of my fans tell me its on the wrong mic again...

I am glad that you are doing something about. Even though you have been asked for 1 year.  ???

A bad/poorly setup mic is a real issue. Lets get this solved folks.

If you need help then ask.

Haha Don you are so full of it buddy.

What are you even on about?  If TS is "switching" mics on you without your consent, which I find hard to believe as I been using TS since it first came out but if it is then you just go in to your sound settings and disable the built in mic.  Thats it!

I swear to the buddha you all always come up with the craziest reasons why you cant just do something like asked.  Like a bunch of kids who's dogs eat their homework, everyday!

Funny stuff!

Since you asked: <offtopic>
Okay let me break it down... So I have one of those dell m6700 with a build in soundcard. that thing has driver issues in windows 10, I cant be arsed to search a fix for it because I use a better one anyway. This laptop is equiped with one of those exprescard slots (yes those still exist) what basicaly is a PCIE x1. So I have an external soundcard on my laptop! now here it is where the confusion for teamspeak starts, it is not easy to cary around the laptop with the bulky soundcard, besides what do I need a soundcard for at university, so I plug it out when I go to university, use my laptop, come back home and plug it back in. Also sometimes I hit the card on accident and it slips out,

Now with most browsers and media players as soon as  they detect the soundcard is plugged in they automaticaly detect it and change to it, teamspeak playback does as well most of the time, teamspeak reccord somehow not always and that seems to be not tied to the playback, thus I can be on the wrong mic...

Now you also get why I am the only one with those issues as people always having their soundcard in their pc (usualy), and well yes I am Don_prince and I'm "different", proud to be as normal people never reached the memory book...

New mic on it´s way  ;)
https://www.amazon.es/Audio-Technica-ATR-3350-Micr%C3%B3fono-condensador-omnidireccional/dp/B002HJ9PTO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1476224410&sr=8-1&keywords=audio+technica+atr-3350

It´s a lavalier type condenser mic form Audio Technica which is omni directional.  As a audio recording (musician) I know Audio Technica and there quality which I used before. Amazon has a great price so I went for it.

The good part from this mic besides it´s quality is that it´s a condenser mic which get´s it´s power from a built in replaceable battery (button type), as per compared to other condenser mic´s which need "phantom" power and use a XLR type plug.  Condenser mic´s have better pick-up qualitys so a good sound is guaranteed.  With a set-up like this (headphones + mic) if one fails you don´t need to throw away the whole headset, and if you already have a good set of headphones (like me) you can use them aswell.

Care,

It sounds great in the video. Just curious about battery life.
