Mission Summary :
UN convoy is to travel 28km route from camp Charlie to base Cortez. Their cargo being politically very hot, and stakes to get it safely away from country being extremely high.

Excerpts of the battalion commander's (HAVOC 6) orders for...BLUEFOR (D.O.W.)

1) SITUATION:

a) Enemy:Due to last weeks events resistance forces in the area are less organised than before but extremely aggressive. They are known to have set road side bombs, IED's on our patrol routes. And have used suicide bombers, and small strike teams against our camps.
   

b) Own: Our convoys consist of 2x Eagle IV trucks and 2x Pirantha 3IIC PCs and from Wisent ARV (mineplows / IED demolition)
             

c) Attachments and detachments:  UN forces on camps Jofu and Benzel will give support, supply, medic and repair assist from call.


2) MISSION: Make sure that your cargo will get safely to Base Cortez before local time 14:30.



3) EXECUTION:

Move along 28km patrol route to Base Cortez, you have 1 hour 30 minutes. That should be plenty.

Use your Wisent ARV to breach possible IEDs or minefields - In case of trouble, request help from other UN camps.


Intent: Will be revised once bluefor commander has decided on course of action.

So far happened.

South of Camp jofy convoy spotted local restlessness. As they continued, they arrived to a location of civilian car accident. There was no hostiles in the area and no IEDs, Convoy continued to camp Jofu where a crazy car driver nearly hid leading vehicle.

Just east of Camp Benzel convoy was ambushed by rebels. Convoy fought back and managed to survive without losses. One vehicle having a broken suspension.

Convoy continued to camp Benzel to repairs, but were put under a mortar fire. They then continued west of camp Benzel very carefully, and received a radio message that helicopter that was supposed to come pick their cargo was shot down.

They were adviced to continue to base Cortez as a large force of rebels had attacked and passed a checkpoint at the mountains few tens kilometers west of base Cortez.

Requesting two additional PCs dependent on number of crews and drivers. - There are very little available PCs to aid you for expept of two Cougar Mraps that are currently stationed in camp Cortex. And Cortez Commander is unwilling to give them because of approaching enemy forces from the west -> You are advised to head to camp Cortex ASAP to safety and to avoid enemy contact from the west.

Requesting information
on mortar, - Nearest troop carried mortars are in camp Cortex with range of 5 km, your forces are currently located 8 km away.

quick reaction forces, - Not available (too far away)

and or air support available. - Not available (busy)

Requesting UAV support by vehicle or additional asset.  - UAVs are busy, additional assets available are repair, recovery and medic located to camp Cortex and small amount of troops

Request that vehicles have at least one grenade launcher weapon system. - All vehicles have Lemur weapon stations and are fully operational (suspension damage on one of piranhas has been repaired)


Also you have two elite rifle squads, carried by Piranthas. They carry M72M4 RPGs.

Peoples really seem to like my UN series of missions. Even when on those rarely a shot is being fired    but the tension and the feeling that something might happen at any moment.

 Last time this mission was set a timelimit of 100 minutes. A time when Copper would depart, with or without hot potato.

We didn't make it to Cortez, we made it just few clicks west of Benzel, when time limit ended our came.

Now we continue this mission from that same setting.

However we got a message that copper never make it to cortex as it was shot down by rebels just before arriving to Cortez. So we have a hot potato on our hands that we have to protect.

So what we do, is that we finish this mission. We will try to make it to Cortez if we can. If we cannot, we improvise to get there.

On part three. We have arrived to Cortex, and we take a road checkpoint to guard traffic that is passing Camp Cortez.

I will give information and the briefing of the Part 3, when its ready. For now its still in the making.

In part 3. Convoy force is tasked to operate road checkpoint just south of base Cortez.

This road doesn't only lead to Base Cortez but as well to a river dam.

And because area has been long dry, there is lot traffic to this dam area. Not only civilians but as well tanker trucks move to get water from the dam and to carry it to many wells of small villages. And you will soon learn to tell... that Here In Bekistan water is more expensive than gold.

of course a night time traffic to this dam increases. Not only tanker trucks but as well civilians will be moving past the checkpoint to get water in the coolness of night. Avoiding such long trips during a hot and uncomfortable daytime. So it will be busy time for those manning the road checkpoint south of Base Cortex. Thus, with this restlessness increased, and having a hot potato in Base...   it means that anything can happen on this night.


Your basic task will be.

To stop the vehicles that advance road. Check them briefly if they carry nothing else than driver, and no potential cargo.

If vehicles carry passengers. Guide vehicle to side...  wait to dismount to be able to check personnel IDs, for about, 5-10 seconds each. and stay near (inspecting contents of vehicle. When ready, move away from vehicle.

have men's observing surrounding terrain as far as they see. If need to patrolling nearby for good look out of the horizon for the possibly advancing rebel forces to be able to get early warning.

Keep eyes open for suicide bombers. Or vehicles that act suspiciously. out of normal. - In such case.. use your best judgement. A civilian driver who cannot drive straigh line might be just drunk. But purposely ignoring stop order, or risking health of your men's is entirely different thing.
