Escape from Tarkov is a hardcore and realistic online first-person action RPG/Simulator with MMO features and story-driven walkthrough.

With each passing day the situation in the Norvinsk region grows more and more complicated. Incessant warfare in Tarkov has sparked massive panic; local population has fled the city, but those who stayed are looking to improve their fortunes at the expense of others. Having accepted the new reality, “savage” Tarkov locals - Scavs flocked into well-armed gangs and started the redivision of the city. Nowadays, Tarkov is separated by unseen borders, controlled by different groups. Gain-greedy gunmen would go to any length to have their way, including the murder of civilians and direct confrontation with the two private military companies.

The players will have to experience living in the skin of one of the mercenaries who survived the initial stage of the Tarkov conflict. After choosing one of the sides – USEC or BEAR – the player’s character starts to make his way out of the city. Tarkov is sealed off by UN and Russian military, supply chains are cut, communication with operational command is lost, and in these conditions everyone has to make his own choices of what to do and how to get out of the chaos-ridden metropolis.

The events of the Escape from Tarkov take place in the fictional Norvinsk's region Special Economic Zone that became a gateway between Russia and Europe. Preferential conditions for large international companies, however, have not only attracted law-abiding businesses, but corporations of dubious intent as well. In Tarkov, one of the largest cities of the region, a transatlantic corporation became the ground zero of a political scandal. Six months later, the political standoff escalated into an armed conflict involving UN peacekeepers, Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and two private military companies. The region’s borders were sealed off, and those trapped in the middle of this local warfare flare up were isolated from the outside world.


The confrontation on the edge of darkness.


The most active forces in the Norvinsk region are two private military companies, hired by the sides of the initial conflict. USEC, employed by the notorious Terra Group international corporation, vigorously engages in armed clashes, hindering the investigation of Terra Group activities, carried on by local authorities. Moreover, according to intelligence agencies, USEC provides armed cover to illegal work and research of the foreign companies, whereas BEAR, allegedly created on direct orders of the Russian government, is employed by the Norvinsk region officials to uncover any evidence of the Terra Group's illicit activities.

•   Behold the system module HECS - Hazardous Environment Combat Simulator.
•   Feel your character via health and physical characteristics, including hydration, energy, blood pressure, bloodloss, fractures, contusion, toxication, exhaustion, tremors and so on.
•   Control your character freely - smooth speed and stance changes and transitions, leaning and proning.
•   Be aware of real-life ballistics and projectile hit physics.
•   Get ready to feel the weapon as it is in real life. Get used to physical concepts of weapon operating - jamming, overheating, wearout, reloading, aiming, charging and, of course, shooting.
•   Discover the most advanced weapon modding system ever. Change everything you want to expand your weapon’s tactical abilities.
•   Interact with the environment to gain situational domination - switch lights, commence tactical entry with door interaction system.


Stay alive and pay attention.


•   If you die, you’ll lose everything you took and found in a raid. Organize your backup inventory kits, use secured containers and insurance.
•   Treat yourself, your gear and weapons properly. Apply the large variety of medicines to stay alive and focused. Repair your armor, firearms and cold steel. Purify water and sort out your food rations.
•   Manage your inventory in a classic slot-based way. Organize and modify your chest rig like a real professional.
•   Utilize special equipment like NVGs, radio headsets, ballistic vests and helmets.
•   Loot fallen enemies and containers to get a vast variety of items to use and barter.
•   Get experienced - earn points and level up. Near 100 unique skills to train via a repetitive actions principle.
•   Cooperate with strangers or get shot by your friend in the back - there are no rules.


Beware of Scavs.


•   The louder your scream - the faster they come. Get your trigger finger ready.
•   Confront AI driven civilian savage scavengers (or Scavs) and play as a Scav with pre-set random gear, weapon and health condition.
•   No need to worry about death - you will not lose anything from your main character.
•   Get out alive while playing Scav and transfer his loot to your main character stash.


Fit in and get settled.


•   Experience a large amount of non-combat activities.
•   Communicate and trade with NPC merchants, gain their trust to get special goods and quests.
•   Adapt to the economy, which changes in real time according to other players' operations and events, controlled by AI.
•   Sell your loot in rag fairs and auctions.
•   Become a trader with your own store, runners and specials.
•   Work with your stash, heal your character, repair and modify weapons, examine items, chat to learn news and gossip.
•   Establish your own combat group with unique abilities.

Dear friends!

We are, just as you, eagerly waiting for the first live stream of Escape from Tarkov, where you will see with your own eyes, how the Alpha version of the project looks and plays like.

We are also happy to announce that, instead of one stream, there will be two, both live, at the different time; one for our Russian-speaking audience, and one for English-speaking.

Both streams will be broadcasted on our Twitch channel on Saturday, April 2nd.


The stream will be presented by the project lead Nikita Buyanov and Alexander "Kiba" Kovalchuk, with estimated running time of 1.5 hours.

We have tried to choose the time that would be convenient to the most of us:

The first stream - in Russian - will be broadcasted at 16:00 Moscow time.

The second stream - in English - will be broadcasted at 18:00 UTC (21:00 Moscow, 19:00 CEST, 14:00 EDT, 11:00 PDT).

Both stream replays will later be uploaded to our official Youtube channel.

We have conducted an ultimate analysis of the much-anticipated alpha testing launch of Escape from Tarkov and are now ready to disclose its date.

The most important point of the early testing is the solid base that will be added to the game in the coming days and will make it to the Alpha - and, ultimately, serve as a steady foundation to Escape from Tarkov.

Opening access to whatever we have now, "as is", in our opinion, does not serve any purpose. Alpha testing should not only polish the project and add content, but thoroughly balance and flesh out the details of game mechanics.

This is why we have formed a perfectly clear vision of what alpha testing should include - the version of the game where we could solve all of these tasks together!

We hereby announce the start of Escape from Tarkov alpha testing for August 4.

In the time remaining to the launch of the tests we are going to reveal several new game features in form of videos or streams, so stay tuned!

Dear friends!

Today, we would like to tell you about the Technical Alpha Testing access procedure and the content and features you will find available in the game at the start of the Technical Alpha Testing.



The purpose of Technical Alpha Testing infers fine-tuning basic gameplay mechanics under high load conditions, checking of game locations for possible issues, and identification and fixing of the bugs that may occur in the early versions of the game, both online and offline.

The Technical Alpha Testing participants will be granted access in waves, first one being aimed at revealing possible issues with early access and load distribution. The waves will be formed according to the time of pre-order, i.e. players who have pre-ordered early will be among the first to access the Technical Testing. Consecutive waves will be formed with an interval of one or two days and, according to our estimations, all eligible pre-order owners will be granted access to Alpha within 2 weeks.

Eligible pre-order packages include the Edge of the Darkness, Left Behind Edition and Prepare for Escape Edition. Obviously, Edge of the Darkness owners are guaranteed access, whereas Left Behind gives a 25% chance and Prepare for Escape - 50% chance of participation.

Players who will be placing their pre-orders during the Alpha testing will be automatically distributed into one of the upcoming waves.

Over the course of Technical Alpha Testing, occurrences of various issues - server-related, visual, technical, etc - are considered as expected. Game performance optimization at the Alpha launch is not final and will be being improved constantly with every consecutive version update.

All identified bugs and issues will be promptly fixed, along with addition of new game features and content. Also, players should  expect regular profile resets (clearing all related data), server downtimes and restarts and frequent game updates for testing and gameplay tuning purposes.

The Technical Alpha Testing servers may have limited availability and only be accessible for a certain time (immediately for testing sessions). The server availability, as well as any testing-related info, can be tracked by following the dedicated Twitter -

From the very start of the Technical Alpha Testing, we are going to ceaselessly release updates for fixing the identified errors, adjusting the existing features, introducing new ones, and adding more content.

Please note, that most of the bonus items described in the pre-order packages won't be instantly available at the earliest stages of the project testing and everyone will use standard equipment at first. However, they will be added later on.

We present to your attention the screenshot of the new large location - the Woods.

The vast Woods, covering the major section of Tarkov's immediate outskirts, hides many curious objects. Attentive explorers are in for numerous discoveries, including abandoned railroad station, sawmill, the remains of a crashed plane and many more. To succeed in the Forest, player will have to adopt a special combat tactics and learn to navigate in dense vegetation and in the open spaces.

The Escape from Tarkov is currently in the Alpha testing stage and is being actively prepared for transition to the closed beta. At the moment, most key game mechanics are already available to the players, including handling of weapons and inventory management, raids, experience gaining, trader loyalty level changes and many more.

Switching Over to Escape From Tarkov Extended Alpha

Dear friends! The New Year and Christmas are just around the corner, so it feels like a great time to start cheering you up with presents. First, we’re announcing the Escape from Tarkov switch over to the Extended Alpha!

What does that mean? It means that testing is drawing near to the Closed Beta, entering a new, more advanced stage, a lot of new features are introduced to the game, and it becomes technically more polished. And most importantly - even more pre-order package owners will be granted the access to testing!

The Extended Alpha version will contain the following features and content:
•   A new raid location, the Woods - wide open spaces, dense forest vegetation, entirely new tactics and game experience;
•   Weapon failure and repair system;
•   Ability to create groups for going into raids together;
•   Improved game physics;
•   Ceaseless work on performance optimization and troubleshooting of existing issues;
•   Everything that has been done to this point in Alpha, including completely operational networking, trade, leveling, inventory management etc.;
•   Absolute ABOLITION of the Alpha materials publication restrictions. Yes, from this point onwards you are free to stream, make videos and screenshots of the game and share them.

Also, although some pre-order packages’ owners were supposed to be granted the access to the testing with the start of the Beta, we’ll start the admissions right away!
In a few days, as soon as the networking aspects are updated, we plan to give the Extended

Alpha access to the owners of the following pre-order packages:
•   1st wave: "Prepare For Escape" - 25% of those who don’t have the access yet.
•   2nd wave: "Prepare For Escape" - 25 more percents of those who don’t have the access yet.
•   3rd wave: "Left Behind" - 25% of those who don’t have the access yet.

The Escape from Tarkov testing continues, and the future will bring more discoveries, locations and mechanics. Stay on board!

An annual report on the progress of a game. How many developers prepare a detailed report/presentation video of a game's progress? eSimGames please take the cue from these guys! And what a game it is! Not beers and pretzels, but a whole 10-course meal! The weapons realism, sounds, mechanics, handling and customization is out of this world. Unprecedented and insane levels for handling, affectiving center of gravity and recoil physics. Field testing on the shooting range, video recording and playback of actual guns firing, gun muzzle flash analysis and reproduction. Where do these guys come from?
