Fun to fly and very well done; however, lacks some technical accuracy and FMS needs some work. Froogle will soon be publishing a video where he flies the plane with a real MD-80 pilot along with him and forewarns x-plane fanboys will be displeased with him for his initial critique of the Rotate MD-80.

Having said that, Rotate's support forum is active with a lot of feedback from the community and the developers appear to be listening. Hopefully the plane improves in time (quickly I hope). In the meantime, I would've held off on purchasing this plane had I know what I know now. Still...it is a lot of fun to fly.

On another note, IXEG will soon release their 737 classic for x-plane and I gather this will be more realistic. If you're into PMDG-level study sims than this might be a better choice to wait for. I watched a posted by IXEG a couple of days ago and I have great expectations for this plane. Sadly, I had them for the MD-80 as well.

Time will tell...

Fly safe!

Rotate MD-80 v1.1 Massive update

Three months ago, one of the most anticipated X-Plane aircraft in years was released: The Rotate MD-80.
Instantly, it became an X-Plane classic, and users were blown away by the quality of the 3D work and the aircraft overall. The Rotate team did not rest on its laurels . Over the past three months, the team has worked hard to fix some minor issues and improve the plane. The result is a comprehensive 1.1 update. Initial feedback from users is extremely positive.

This MD-80 is an accurate replica of the popular aircraft. The realism of the 3D model and texture work is pure and delightful eye candy. The advanced systems simulation brings a solid experience to the demanding flight simmer.

PS: Current MD-80 customers can download the 1.1 update under their account at the store.

Review of V1.1: Click Here

"This v1.1 is a huge update and a very though one as well. Yes there are still things to be addressed as there is on any aircraft of this size and nature, but this release pushes the barrow a lot further down the road"
