Haha sorry bro :(   I know that was not very sensitive of me knowing of your cosmic struggle with CFS3.

Longknife, it is the UE, I was not going to upgrade yet but I ended up doing it before my discount ran out.  Just something about this sim that I cant resist it.

As for that I think,  I dont have too much time in it yet but I can see it seems to run better than the old version but I was on expansion 2 before and had not purchased expansion 3 yet and did not have one of the DLC.  Also I have a new 1060 6GB now so that obviously makes alot of difference.  It does look better for sure.  The new shaders have a more realistic lighting model to them I think.
The airfields that I have seen so far seem more alive and busy but I have only seen two of them on the one long flight I took.  I will also say that scenery looks alot more realistic now with all the new scenery objects and buildings they have added.

So I can't really say that its worth it to upgrade for everyone but I think it was worth it.  It runs uncapped at around 100fps now maxed out but again new video card too so take that for what its worth.

The ground round looks great. Do you have Rise of Flight? How is the flight model? Is it comparable?

I do have RoF yes.  I think the flight modelling is a little more limited with WOFF because of the CFS3 engine but I the flight modelling in RoF never felt right to me and I flew it quite a bit online.
The planes in RoF react to stalls in a weird way I always thought, way to snap roll prone for the speed and weight you are talking about with a WWI plane.
Even with WOFF's engine being some what limited in physics I think you end up with a more realistic flying experience with a little tweaking bases on your joystick.
And with tweaking I only mean tweaking the null zone and range of the axis like you do with any flight sim not actually tweaking the FM.

The real beauty of WOFF though is the immersion you get in the campaign.  Its never the same, somewhat like the campaign engine in Falcon 4 and just the little details that WOFF has.
RoF always felt like a very good flight sim but not very good at all in the immersion dept.  It felt very cold and clinical.

Just my thoughts, hope that helps.

Hey Stardog, I am about to pull the trigger on this but wonder what version on WIN you running? I have seen a few posts the CFS3 doesnt like Win10. I hate to buy it & not be able to play it.

Also any suggestions on where to get CFS3? My copy of it was thrown away a decade or so ago LOL

Im running Windows 7 64bit.  Ya I heard there was some issues with Windows 10.

For CFS3 I would probably check Ebay.

Thanks Stardod. I love RoF for the flight model but I agree that the developers did not have an idea for a good and immersive campaign. This is why i tried Pat Wilson's Campaign Generator but it also has some shortcomings.

I have CFS3 in my parents' place. If I have enough time I may dig through my old stuff to find it.
