Team SABER Multiplayer 04/11/15 @ 01:00GMT

Platoon 02 Commanding a platoon from cv9030 tutorial folder

This scenario is a simulation and does not have any political message.

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Mission Summary :
Platoon of Finnish CV9030 mech infantry is about to engage and hold objective techno viking.

Map

CV90/30-FI: PLATOON - Commanding a Platoon

In this mission, you're given command of one Panzerjaeger platoon from 1.PSJK (1st Mech Inf Company) and the company commander also gave an FO team to support your attack with the fire of the company's mortar section. Your platoon composition is:  - 4 x CV90/30-FI, with 3 x PzJaeger Squad of 7 men (M72 LAWs and MMG), an AT team (NLAW) and the FO team (these teams are in the number 4 vehicle).  Supporting you:  - 2x 81mm light mortar (HE and SMOKE)
You can order the platoon in the map view and in the 3D view, using the commands you've learned in previous tutorials. For this mission it's adviced to stay in the 3D view for as much as possible, as your situational awareness of what is happening in your platoon is better that way - for overall situation of the company/battlegroup etc. the map screen will be better. For commanding the infantry teams, the map is also good, as there will be 4 vehicles and 8 infantry teams to command! You may use any view or crew position in this mission!
In this mission you will be fighting in a typical finnish terrain, that will usually allow only short visibility and engagement ranges. This will also mean that you should keep your vehicles and squads closer to each other than in more open terrain - so they can support each other. Also remember the importance of indirect support! With it you are able to suppress the enemy before closing in. Also remember the safe distance to friendly indirect target area - in case of the 81mm mortar it'll be some 100m.

Tips in using platoon in this mission:
Take a good look at the terrain in the 3D world before starting the mission. Plan your actions... where to move, in which formation, when to dismount, how to attack, how to use the mortars... Below are some suggestions, but you are free to attack as you will - the result will tell if you did good or not!  - Start up in column formation to close in with the enemy.  - Before you move in all the way to the small stream, it's advised that you dismount and use the FO team to call in mortar fire missions to soften up any opposition on the known enemy locations. Using small target sizes (50x50m for example) is advised as otherwise the fire of the 2 tubes may spread too apart to be effective.   - When moving into contact, have your platoon in line formation and have the infantry move ahead of the vehicles to spot the enemy AT teams. Order the CVs to follow close by ready to engage any enemies.  - Moving in bounds as sections is advised, so 2 vehicles and 2 squads will support while 2 vehicles and 2 squads move.  - As the enemy is quite weak versus your platoon in this mission, a straight forward assault should do the trick.  - When you reach the objective, order your units into position so that they can observe the open area and also the flanks. The enemy may move in more forces!

THIS MISSION
Order from the company CO:
"Enemy:  Recon patrols have located two enemy armour recon teams in Loiri. They have occupied the two small hills, marked on your map as P17 and P18. A sentry post was spotted at the buildings, marked P16.  An enemy mechanized platoon is spotted attacking from  P25 south along the road. Company's mission:  1.PSJK will attack north along route Papa, destroy the enemy and seize Etu-Loiri, marked OBJ Technoviking and repel any counterattacks. The company prepares to continue the attack North.

Bravo platoon (your) mission: Attack on point along route P, destroy the enemies you encounter, and take and hold OBJ Technoviking. Prepare to support the company's attack. Support:  Mortar section is supporting your platoon with 2 tubes (HE and SMOKE). FO team is attached to your platoon for the duration if this mission (inside the number 4 CV). Other:  The platoon boundaries are marked on your tactical BMS (battlefield management system) map. Do not cross them.  The terrain is high visibility pine woods all the way to the objective, with a number of tracks running north-south.  Use the mortars to suppress the enemy and lay smoke screens according to your plan.
Move out once you're ready! Good luck!"

The mission will end when OBJ Technoviking is secured, or when your platoon has suffered >50% casualties.
