Important Arma changes in D.O.W.

Hi all this is a message to let you know what's going on in the world of Arma 3.

Asid has asked me to take over the Arma side of the forum and to help keep this page up to date and keep you all informed.
I currently have big shoes to fill as Asid has done a tremendous amount of work on all the forums and more.

The current plan is for missions made to be submitted to my self where i will give feed back and say Yes or No (aye or naw) , if approved the mission will be penciled in on the calendar and posted on the mission page for SIGNING UP. ( this is mandatory)

While we have a gap of missions that are not ready then I will do a rotation of RHS and Vanilla missions, as these are our current mods.
I would also like to introduce other mods but this will be on a different
post.

I look forward to your feed back and hope to drive Arma 3 forward

Effective immediately. Wilso will be organising all ArmA missions and activities within our group. This will allow the other members to continue to do what they do best. Any questions about ArmA or submission of custom made missions should be made directly to Wilso.


Wilso I'm sure you will do a great job with ArmA for our group. We are all here to assist you whenever you need.

You have a lot of experience and enthusiasm for ArmA and have been an asset to our group.

Here Here!!! Thank you for taking this over, and I am sure you will usher in a new level of ArmA 3 in DOW.
I am starting to make missions, and almost have two missions done. I can send them to you when it is convenient for you to look at. I will do my best in supporting you with missions, and anything else I can as long as it will not take away from my duties on the Steel Beasts side of DOW.

On that note I would like to propose a possible change to the time for ArmA3 missions in DOW

Possible options or close variations of these are as follows. All of these are aimed at having the most playing at one time from the group.

1. Adjust the time on Friday to 2400 or 0100 GMT to allow for the US based players to get home from work.
2. Switch to Saturday with a start time of 2400 GMT one hour after Steel Beast mission should be done, and allow for a rest before a ArmA mission.
3. Switch to Sunday with a start time of 2300 GMT, and move TANKS Steel Beasts from 2100 GMT to 2000 GMT.

Your input as well as others on these possible changes encouraged please.

A little food for thought when it comes to changes. In our group of members and ArmA players, there are a few things that need to be kept in mind.

1. File sizes due to people not having a lot of storage space on their hard drives.
2. Speed of peoples internet for downloads where it could take them hours or days to download certain files.
3. Getting those people to get the mods and have them installed prior to mission start.
4. Does the mods add immersion to the mission or is it just some fancy added thing for looks, are just extra nothing.
5. Is it really needed for the mission/scenario for immersion or back story.
6. Is the mission too big, or too small.
7. Time zones and work schedules for ability to play.

Another idea I had was to post the mission without a actual mission just to get a manning list set. This then would allow for a mission of correct size to be picked for that day, based on the manning list.

Yet another idea would be to use Zues or MCC for the missions where it would not matter how many were playing as the mission would be made on the go.

It would be nice to get all the ArmA players together and discuss there types of things in a TS room one day.

Some great points Cougar.

You mention using MCC to create "on the fly" missions. I would want an experienced user to use that option otherwise it could be.....Well you know. To un-realistic and not immersive enough.

Agreed that someone using MCC would have to have enough experience and abilities to make missions quickly on the fly, and enough idea of what is enough, not enough, and too much for the players.

I'm working on two missions right now, one is called "TF Stryker" and the other one is called "Charlie Mike".

I would like to see option "2. Switch to Saturday with a start time of 2400 GMT one hour after Steel Beast mission should be done, and allow for a rest before a ArmA mission" if possibly.
